Patient Access Representative Associate
About the role
The Patient Access Representative Associate is responsible for greeting and welcoming patients in person, providing a standard registration process, directing patients to their appointments or procedures, and resolving claims issues or registration errors.
Responsibilities
- Greets and welcomes patients in person
- Collects demographic and insurance information
- Checks in and interviews patients to complete appropriate paperwork
- Directs patients to their appointment or procedure
- May assist in scheduling add-on appointments
- Documents any issues and resolutions in electronic medical record
- Solves claim issues or registration errors on patient accounts
- Verifies insurance eligibility and benefits information for payers and interprets results focusing on complex billing situations
- Obtains cost information and explains information to patient if necessary
- Collects co-pay or deductibles and responds to questions regarding financial assistance programs available. Refers complex questions as needed
- Screening and approving patients for financial assistance programs
- Aids and counsels patients with application process for available financial assistance programs
- Provides technical or functional direction for employees
- Aids patient in completion of request for information forms and submits to appropriate department
- Obtains signatures from patients as needed
- May gather medical record information from all departments for collection
- Provides customer service for inbound and outbound telephone calls
- Mentors other staff as needed
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- 6+ months of customer service experience in a healthcare, retail, food service, bank/office settings, call center, or other settings that engages with customers, etc.
- Intermediate level of proficiency with Microsoft Office products
- Ability to work 3-4 weekdays per week from 2:30pm - 11:00pm
- Ability to work every other Saturday & Sunday
- Ability to work standard daytime hours, Monday - Friday for the first 3 weeks after hire in alignment with the training schedule
- Must be 18 years of age OR older
Qualifications
- Revenue Cycle experience (preferred)
- General office experience (preferred)
- Epic experience (preferred)
Physical Demands
- Consistent walking, standing, bending, turning, etc.
- Lifting weight Up to 10 lbs. occasionally, up to 2-5 lbs. frequently
