About the role

We're seeking a dynamic and compassionate individual to join our team as a Patient Service Representative. Your primary responsibility will be to greet patients and guests, initiate scheduling, and ensure smooth check-in processes. You'll also handle financial transactions and insurance verifications, all while maintaining a professional demeanor and fostering positive patient experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Create, activate, and complete the patient scheduling, clinic registration, or hospital admission process.
  • Gather and input patient/guarantor demographic and financial information accurately.
  • Explain insurance benefits and collect co-pays, deductibles, and self-pay portions due.
  • Perform financial analysis and inform patients of their financial responsibility.
  • Balance cash drawer daily, prepare deposit slips, and follow closing cash drawer process.
  • Demonstrate respect and cooperation in all staff relationships, and resolve conflicts professionally.
  • Adapt to different patient populations and maintain a respectful approach.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in a customer service role.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong computer skills, including data entry and Windows-style applications.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with healthcare insurance benefits and payer guidelines.
  • Knowledge of Federal, State, and Local billing regulations.

Qualifications

  • Preferred certifications include CHAM, CHAA, or Medical Assistant certification.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other departments.
  • Good analytical skills and attention to detail.
