About the role
BJC HealthCare is a large nonprofit organization serving the greater St. Louis area. The Patient Access Representative role is crucial for facilitating patients' entrance into BJC facilities and ensuring accurate patient records.
Responsibilities
- Problem solve and anticipate patients' needs
- Communicate professionally and positively with patients, families, and colleagues
- Ensure accurate patient records by correctly selecting the Master Patient Index (MPI)
- Register, schedule, verify insurance, and collect applicable patient payments
- Provide preparation instructions and financial responsibility education for scheduled procedures
- Comply with complex regulatory guidelines related to Medicare Secondary Payer (MSP), HIPAA Privacy Standards, Patient Bill of Rights and Responsibilities, Advance Directives, Consent to Treat, EMTALA, and JCAHO Requirements
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- No prior experience required
- Associate's degree preferred
- Supervisor experience preferred
Preferred Qualifications
- CHAA certification
