Role Purpose
The Patient Access Representative is a key point of contact for patients, representing BJC with high standards of customer service and emotional intelligence. They are responsible for facilitating all aspects of patient entry into BJC facilities, ensuring accurate insurance information, and maximizing reimbursement opportunities while minimizing denials.
Responsibilities
- Utilize critical thinking to solve problems and meet patients' needs effectively.
- Communicate professionally and positively with patients, families, and colleagues, both in-person and via phone.
- Ensure proper patient identification, registration, scheduling, and insurance verification.
- Validate completeness and accuracy of patient records and prepare patients for scheduled procedures.
- Comply with complex regulatory guidelines related to Medicare Secondary Payer, HIPAA, and other relevant laws.
- Provide HIPAA acknowledgments to patients.
Minimum Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- No prior experience required
- Associate's Degree preferred
- Supervisor experience preferred
