About the role

We're seeking a dynamic and compassionate individual to join our team as a Patient Service Representative. Reporting directly to the Registration Team Lead, you'll greet patients and guests courteously, initiate scheduling, and ensure smooth patient check-ins and admissions. Your role is crucial in ensuring accurate patient information is captured and maintained, supporting efficient financial transactions, and enhancing overall patient satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Create, activate, and complete the patient scheduling, clinic registration, or hospital admission process.
  • Gather and input patient/guarantor demographic and financial information accurately.
  • Explain insurance benefits and collect co-pays, deductibles, and self-pay portions due.
  • Perform financial analysis and inform patients of their financial responsibility.
  • Balance cash drawer daily, prepare deposit slips, and follow closing cash drawer process.
  • Demonstrate respect and cooperation in all staff relationships and handle conflicts professionally.
  • Adapt to different patient populations and maintain a professional demeanor.
  • Other related duties as required.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a hospital, clinic, medical office, or similar customer service environment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Associate’s degree preferred.
  • Computer skills and dexterity for data entry and information retrieval.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Windows-style applications and software relevant to the role.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to solve practical problems under pressure.
  • Excellent decision-making skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other departments.

Qualifications

  • Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.

Skills

  • Basic computer skills and dexterity for data entry and information retrieval.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.

Schedule

This role typically works Monday through Friday, with some evening and weekend shifts as needed.
