Patient Access Rep - Baptist Hospital - FT - Availability 6:00am-3:30pm Potential Weekends and Holiday
About the role
We're looking for someone who can greet patients and guests courteously, initiate scheduling, and manage the check-in process. You'll also handle financial aspects like insurance verification and collections. This role requires excellent customer service skills and a solid understanding of healthcare insurance.
Responsibilities
- Create, activate, and complete the patient scheduling, clinic registration, or hospital admission process.
- Gather and input patient/guarantor demographic and financial information accurately.
- Explain insurance benefits and collect co-pays, deductibles, and self-pay portions.
- Perform financial analysis and inform patients of their financial responsibility.
- Balance cash drawer daily, prepare deposit slips, and follow closing cash drawer process.
- Demonstrate respect and cooperation in all staff relationships and conflict resolution.
- Adapt behavior to specific patient populations and maintain professional communication.
Requirements
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a hospital, clinic, medical office, or similar customer service environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Associate’s degree preferred.
- Certification in Healthcare Access Manager (CHAM), Certification in Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA), or other relevant medical assistant certification preferred.
Qualifications
Must have computer skills and dexterity for data entry and information retrieval. Effective verbal and written communication skills are essential, along with proficiency in Windows-style applications and various software packages specific to the role.
