Patient Access / Registration Rep - 8hr/wk

Part time, day shift.

About the role

Completes patient registrations and pre-registration processes in the Emergency Department following department procedures using identified technology systems. Responsibilities include obtaining accurate demographic, insurance, and patient liability information, and working with multiple department, hospital, and web-based systems.

Responsibilities

• Performs complete and accurate pre-registrations, registration, and admission functions.
• Verifies insurance requirements and obtains and understands insurance benefits.
• Ensures all entries concerning demographic, financial, and advanced directives are accurate.
• Collects non-covered fees.

Requirements

• Minimum: High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year of experience in an accredited hospital or physician's office preferred.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and interview skills.
• Demonstrated proficiency in the use of computer systems and devices.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and medical insurances.

Schedule

• Part-time: 16 hours every two-week cycle (equivalent of 8 hours per week).
• Weekday shift: 6:45 AM – 3:15 PM.
• Orientation/Training: 2 weeks, Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM (includes classroom time in Springfield at Mercy Medical Center).
