About the role

Completes patient registrations/pre-registration processes in the Emergency Department following department procedures using identified technology systems. Processes include obtaining accurate demographic, insurance, and patient liability information. Responsible for working with multiple department/hospital and web-based systems.

Orientation is Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM for 2 weeks, including classroom time in Springfield at Mercy Medical Center.

Responsibilities

• Performs complete and accurate pre-registrations, registration, and admission functions
• Verifies insurance requirements, obtains and understands insurance benefits
• Ensures that all entries concerning demographic, financial, and advanced directives are accurate
• Collects non-covered fees

Requirements

• Minimum: High school diploma or equivalent
• One year of experience in an accredited hospital or physician’s office preferred
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and interview skills
• Demonstrated proficiency in the use of computer systems and devices
• Knowledge of medical terminology and medical insurances

Schedule

Part-time, 16 hours per week, including every other weekend. Rotating shifts: evenings (3:00 PM–11:30 PM) and nights (11:00 PM–7:30 AM).
