Patient Access / Registration Rep - 16hr

About the role

Completes patient registrations/pre-registration processes in the Emergency Department following department procedures using identified technology systems. Processes include obtaining accurate demographic, insurance, and patient liability information. Responsible for working with multiple department/hospital and web-based systems.

Responsibilities

• Performs complete and accurate pre-registrations, registration, and admission functions
• Verifies insurance requirements, obtains and understands insurance benefits
• Ensures that all entries concerning demographic, financial, and advanced directives are accurate
• Collects non-covered fees

Requirements

• Minimum High School diploma or equivalent
• One year experience in an accredited hospital or physician's office preferred
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and interview skills
• Demonstrated proficiency in the use of computer systems and computer devices
• Knowledge of medical terminology and medical insurances

Schedule

• Part-time, 16 hours per week
• Rotating evenings (3:00 PM – 11:30 PM) and nights (11:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
• Every other weekend required
• Orientation/training is 2 weeks, Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (includes time in Springfield at Mercy Medical Center)
