About the role
The Patient Access Lead coordinates and supervises the daily workflow and scheduling of all patient access staff, providing feedback on processes and staffing issues to the Patient Access Supervisor. This role includes staffing oversight, key performance reporting and analysis, QA processes, and other assigned duties.
Responsibilities
- Oversees daily activities of the patient access area (Admission or ED) to ensure department standards are met, including staffing levels and participation in registration workflow.
- Assists the Supervisor with onboarding new employees and educating staff on role-related changes.
- Collects deposits and copays, maintains performance indicators as outlined in goals, and completes daily required reporting.
- Assists in resolving patient concerns and demonstrates knowledge of the occurrence reporting system to report potential safety issues.
- Ensures all personnel department policies and procedures are followed.
- Acts in the capacity of supervisor in their absence and informs the supervisor of all issues upon their return.
- Delivers excellent customer service using Relationship Based Care to advocate for safety, patient preferences, and optimal communication with patients, families, and colleagues.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree in healthcare administration, medical office administration, or a related field required. 4 years of related experience accepted in lieu of degree.
- 3 years of experience in patient access, registration, or a similar healthcare administrative role required.
Qualifications
- Certification in healthcare administration or medical office management (e.g., Certified Healthcare Access Associate – CHAA) preferred.
Schedule
Monday - Friday, 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM.
