About the role
The Patient Access Advocate is a part-time position available on a PRN (Per Request Not Required) midshift schedule. This role is located at Legacy ER & Urgent Care, an Intuitive Health company.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients with a smile, answer the phone, enter information into the database, and perform general clerical duties.
- Check patients in and out.
- Verify benefits and collect copayments, coinsurance, and deductibles.
- Aid staff and patients with clerical duties such as copying, scanning, and faxing documents.
- Create and maintain patient files.
- Screen phone calls and direct them to the appropriate individual. Take and direct messages as necessary.
- Provide callers with information such as company address, directions, fax numbers, website, and other related information.
- Confirm all paperwork is filled out correctly.
- Maintain a clean and presentable front desk, waiting room area, and children’s play area.
- Ensure a clean work environment, which may include duties often reserved for housekeeping services.
- Encourage a friendly and respectful work environment.
- Offer a customer-focused, friendly, and reassuring atmosphere that encourages patients to return to Intuitive Health.
- Follow all HIPAA policies and procedures.

Qualifications

- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic math skills.
- Ability to apply common sense to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
- Ability to deal with problems in standardized situations.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a medical office setting is a plus.
- Knowledge and skills regarding all general office equipment, including telephones, credit card machines, and fax.
- Must be computer literate (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and to prioritize multiple demands effectively.
- Exceptional communication skills and customer service is required.
- Solid work history.
Benefits
