About the role

The Patient Access Advocate at Intuitive Health is responsible for various administrative and clerical duties in a healthcare setting. This role operates in a dynamic, fast-paced environment where teamwork and excellent customer service are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients with a smile and answer the phone
  • Enter information into the electronic health record and database
  • Update patient demographics and verify insurance information
  • Collect payments and document registration information
  • Confirm account accuracy to ensure clean billing
  • Perform visit closure activities including collecting payment and following up
  • Provide wayfinding assistance to patients and visitors
  • Manage clerical duties such as copying, scanning, and faxing documents
  • Create and maintain patient files
  • Answer and screen phone calls, take messages, and provide information
  • Ensure the cleanliness and presentation of the front desk and waiting room area
  • Follow HIPAA policies and procedures
  • Support staff and patients with additional duties as needed
  • Work independently and manage conflicts appropriately
  • Attend staff meetings and huddles as required

Qualifications

  • Minimum typing speed of 50 wpm
  • Flexibility and effective communication skills
  • Collaboration and patient/client focus
  • Basic knowledge in Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • High school diploma or GED
  • At least 6 months of work experience in healthcare setting or one year in customer service
  • Basic understanding of insurance and medical terminology and billing codes
  • Exceptional communication skills and customer service
  • Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
  • Ability to prioritize multiple demands and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Computer literacy (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Positive attitude and ability to work independently
  • Strong work ethic and ability to meet productivity standards
  • Ability to lift up to 10 pounds
