Essential Key Responsibilities
- Aids in specimen accession to ensure quality.
- Obtains clinical history as needed to enhance data.
- Prepares tissues for histologic processing by describing anatomic features and dissecting specimens.
- Collects and analyzes biological specimens (viral and blood cultures, toxicological material, etc.) and performs special procedures (tumor triage, coronary artery perfusion, faxitron, etc.).
- Photographs pertinent gross specimens and microscopic slides.
- Maintains department protocols and reports on data, including filing reports, protocols, photographic and microscopic slides, and ensuring coding completion.
- Assists in the preparation, performance, and documentation of human postmortem examinations.
- Participates in the Quality Management Committee to ensure consistent quality improvement.
- Trains staff to improve qualifications and ability to produce high-quality work.
- Conducts performance evaluations and recommends necessary disciplinary actions.
Education/Licensure/Certification
- Bachelor in Laboratory Science.
- Completion of a Pathologists Assistant program accredited by the American Society for Clinical Pathology.
Experience
- Minimum 3 - 5 years’ experience as a Pathologists’ Assistant.

Full-time: Benefit Eligible
Location: Tyler, TX 75701
Days: Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
