Essential Key Responsibilities
- Aids in specimen accession to assure appropriate specimen handling.
- Collects and prepares biological specimens for analysis, including viral and blood cultures, toxicological material, and performs special procedures like tumor triage, coronary artery perfusion, and faxitron.
- Photographs pertinent gross and microscopic specimens.
- Maintains departmental protocols and reports, ensuring their completion and accuracy.
- Participates in the Quality Management Committee to improve quality standards.
- Assists in troubleshooting problem cases and assisting Pathologists in producing accurate diagnoses.
- Maintains a staffing schedule to prevent gaps in service.
- Develops and conducts training programs to enhance staff qualifications and performance.
- Conducts performance evaluations and recommends necessary disciplinary actions.
Education/Licensure/Certification
- Bachelor's degree in Laboratory Science.
- Completion of a Pathologists Assistant program accredited by the American Society for Clinical Pathology.
Experience
- Minimum 3 - 5 years' experience as a Pathologists’ Assistant.
Schedule
Full-time: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
