Essential Key Responsibilities

• Aids in specimen accession to assure appropriate specimen handling.
• Collects and prepares biological specimens for analysis, including viral and blood cultures, toxicological material, and performs special procedures like tumor triage, coronary artery perfusion, and faxitron.
• Photographs pertinent gross and microscopic specimens.
• Maintains departmental protocols and reports, ensuring their completion and accuracy.
• Participates in the Quality Management Committee to improve quality standards.
• Assists in troubleshooting problem cases and assisting Pathologists in producing accurate diagnoses.
• Maintains a staffing schedule to prevent gaps in service.
• Develops and conducts training programs to enhance staff qualifications and performance.
• Conducts performance evaluations and recommends necessary disciplinary actions.

Education/Licensure/Certification

• Bachelor's degree in Laboratory Science.
• Completion of a Pathologists Assistant program accredited by the American Society for Clinical Pathology.

Experience

• Minimum 3 - 5 years' experience as a Pathologists’ Assistant.

Schedule

Full-time: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
