Parts Specialist/Parts Counter

About the role
The Parts Counter will be responsible for the sale of truck parts and accessories by researching customer requirements, controlling parts inventory, processing invoices and payment, and managing return cores and warranty parts. This position is based in Anchorage, in a heated and air-conditioned warehouse with a great floorplan, conveniently located right off 4th Street behind Wendy’s.

Responsibilities
- Assist all customers (retail and shop) in selecting required parts in a friendly, professional, and efficient manner.
- Manage incoming and outgoing phone traffic.
- Assist outside sales staff with technical, inventory, and pricing information.
- Identify and record lost sales opportunities to ensure inventory performance remains at a high level.
- Consistently follow up on outstanding backorders and aging will-call items.
- Receive payment from retail customers or obtain credit authorization.
- Coordinate with delivery drivers for daily delivery and pickups.
- Pull and fill orders from stock for local delivery and outside sales staff.
- Restock incorrect or returned parts.
- Notify parts manager of out-of-stock parts or shop materials needing immediate attention.
- Source, shop, and order emergency nonstock items from local vendors.
- Communicate order status of special order items with all customers and service departments.
- Pull orders for service and body shops, ensuring all parts are tagged with customer names and job numbers.
- Ensure local special order parts are returned to the vendor if not picked up by the customer.
- Ensure all internal requests for parts are billed on the service repair order.
- Ensure all charge sales are signed by the customer.
- Ensure all customers receive their copy of the invoice.
- Issue credit for parts returned, verifying the original invoice or its number for purchase and pricing.
- Keep orderly records of all repair orders, invoices, insurance estimates, and special order parts.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED (preferred).
- Must be able to work 40+ hours per week.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
- Ability to operate or be trained to operate a forklift.
- Detail-oriented with proficiency in Microsoft Office, communication, and time management.
Physical Requirements
The physical demands include lifting at least 50 pounds regularly, standing for long periods, bending, lifting, and pushing.
