About the role
The Parts Room & Maintenance Planner is responsible for improving work force productivity and quality by anticipating and eliminating potential delays through planning, scheduling, and coordination of maintenance resources, parts, materials, and equipment access while adhering to all environment, health and safety (EHS) rules.
Responsibilities
- Promote and assure safe work habits including compliance and improvements to company and departmental safety procedures and goals.
- Ensure that all equipment, parts, and personnel are available through procurement and inventory management to efficiently complete each work order assignment with minimum downtime.
- Works with operations to prioritize and plan work based on equipment availability, resources, safety impact and availability of outside contractors if needed.
- Create and delegate daily work orders based on maintenance requests, planned maintenance and preventive maintenance schedules.
- Review completed work orders for discrepancies compared to plan regarding time, materials, notes/comments, and completion of tasks. Formalize closure of work orders after review.
- Provide technical advice on matters relating to equipment modification and time estimates on maintenance projects.
- Collects data on equipment breakdowns.
- Implement, manage, and improve preventative and predictive maintenance programs.
- Maintain progress on difficult or extended problems and projects.
- Coordinate outside contractors when required for special project work or to supplement maintenance workforce.
- Support maintenance schedule including guidance of available resources, development of weekly resource schedules and ongoing improvements.
- Coordinates various projects as assigned by Maintenance Supervisor.
- Ordering of replacements and spare parts, maintenance & manufacturing supplies, tools, lubricants, machine rolls, etc.
- Identify unknown parts and locate supplier(s) for these parts as needed for maintenance of the plant machinery.
- Establishes and maintains effective systems and controls for inventories of all spare parts.
- Develops inventory systems, cycle counts, and vendor managed inventory systems to improve parts availability and accurate stock levels.
- Compares vendors for best pricing, delivery, and overall service to find the best suppliers.
- Aids maintenance technicians with daily tasks or work orders as needed.
- Trains team members on the proper inventory control system and work order process.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 - 7 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read and follow directions.
- Regular attendance.
- Positive and frequent interactions with others.

- Manufacturing work environment with moderate noise levels and smells.

Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of the mechanical crafts and procedures including the millwright trade, pipefitting, hydraulics, pneumatics, welding, sheet metal, and machinist skills.
- Strong working knowledge of electricity including both A.C. and D.C., electronics, power distribution, and circuitry protection.

- Effective communication in verbal and written forms with people of various educational and technical backgrounds, inside and outside the company.
- Creative problem-solving and facilitation abilities.
- Confidence in decision-making and capability to make decisions within time and information constraints.
