Partnership Tax Senior Manager, Advanced Computational Services
As a Tax Senior Manager, Partnerships, you will advise clients on the tax implications of their business objectives and various partnership-specific items, including section 704(b) and taxable income allocations, capital account maintenance, liability analysis and allocations, section 734(b) and 743(b) adjustment calculations, and Tax Receivable Agreement (TRA) calculations.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and develop an in-depth understanding of technical and practical issues and opportunities regarding partnership taxation.
- Organize and conduct, or participate in, effective external CPE training sessions in your area of specialization at least once per year.
- Train and mentor associates, senior associates, and managers.
- Identify when research is needed, frame issues clearly, and report analysis concisely.
- Identify complex issues for the engagement team and provide research methodology.
- Train team members on research skills and framing tax issues for analysis.
- Develop, recommend, and implement efficient methods to maximize client benefits, especially by decreasing clients’ current and future taxes.
- Apply tax knowledge and industry expertise to recommend solutions while managing risk.
- Introduce and develop new or improved ideas to benefit clients, the firm, or personnel (e.g., reducing taxes or expenses or providing non-tax benefits).
- Research and implement tax strategies, including experimentation with promising new approaches.
- Supervise associates, senior associates, and managers on all projects, including reviewing work and providing feedback.
- Train team members on current software tools and act as a career advisor.
- Schedule and manage workloads, providing verbal and written performance feedback.
- Develop and maintain client relationships and contribute to marketing and business development.
- Drive process improvement and team-building initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required; major in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Statistics preferred.
- Master’s in Accountancy or Taxation preferred.
- Eight (8) or more years of prior relevant tax experience and/or public accounting, private industry accounting, or consulting/professional services experience.
- Specialized partnership experience required.
- Prior supervisory experience required.
- Private equity experience, both fund and portfolio company levels, preferred.
Qualifications
- CPA certification, Attorney (admitted to practice in a U.S. jurisdiction), or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent (EA) (or equivalent) preferred.
- Possession of other professional degrees or certifications applicable to the role preferred.
- Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite preferred.
- Experience with tax research databases and tax compliance process software preferred.
- Superior verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical, research, and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to delegate work effectively and develop/manage a team of tax professionals.
- Solid organizational skills with a focus on meeting project deadlines and attention to detail.
- Ability to multi-task, work independently, and within a team environment.
- Proven ability to work in a deadline-driven environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with firm and client personnel at all levels.
- Executive presence and ability to act as primary contact on assigned engagements.
Pay
Individual salaries are determined based on qualifications, experience, skills, and geography. The national range for this role is $99,750 - $262,500. Specific ranges for select locations are as follows:
- Maryland: $99,750 - $262,500
- NYC/Long Island/Westchester: $99,750 - $262,500
- Washington DC: $99,750 - $262,500
