About the role
The Tax Senior Manager, Partnerships at BDO is responsible for advising clients on partnership-specific tax matters, such as section 704(b) and taxable income allocations, capital account maintenance, liability analysis, and TRA calculations. This role requires a deep understanding of partnership taxation and the ability to apply this knowledge to maximize client benefits.
Responsibilities
- Maintains and develops an in-depth understanding of partnership taxation issues.
- Applies technical and practical knowledge to advise clients on tax implications of business objectives.
- Develops and implements efficient methods to maximize client benefits, especially by decreasing taxes.
- Manages client expectations and builds strong client relationships.
- Trains and mentors associates, senior associates, and managers on research and tax consulting skills.
- Manages workload and schedules tasks for associates, senior associates, and managers.
- Provides performance feedback to team members.
Requirements
- Eight (8) or more years of relevant tax experience and/or public accounting, private industry accounting or consulting/professional services experience.
- Prior supervisory experience.
- Private equity experience, both fund and portfolio company levels.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Statistics, or a major in Accounting, Finance, Economics or Statistics, preferred.
- Master’s in Accountancy or Taxation, preferred.
- CPA certification, Attorney (admitted to practice in a U.S. jurisdiction), or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent (“EA”) (or the equivalent of one of these designations), preferred.
- Software proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with tax research databases and tax compliance process software.
