Partnership Tax Senior Manager, Advanced Computational Services
About the role
The Tax Senior Manager, Partnerships at BDO is responsible for advising clients on the tax implications of their business objectives, particularly related to partnerships. This includes understanding and applying complex partnership taxation issues, such as section 704(b) and taxable income allocations, capital account maintenance, liability analysis, and allocations, section 734(b) and 743(b) adjustment calculations, and Tax Receivable Agreement (TRA) calculations. The role also involves marketing and business development efforts, leading process improvement initiatives, and maintaining client relationships.
Responsibilities
- Maintains and develops an in-depth understanding of partnership taxation issues and opportunities.
- Applies tax knowledge and business/industry knowledge to recommend solutions that maximize client benefits, especially by decreasing client taxes, while managing risk.
- Manages client expectations and implements applicable Firm strategies.
- Develops and leads marketing campaigns, if applicable to role.
- Trains and mentors associates, senior associates, and managers on research skills and tax issue framing.
- Manages workload, schedules, and provides performance feedback to associates, senior associates, and managers.
- Introduces and develops new or improved ideas to improve the position of clients, the Firm, or Firm personnel.
- Researches and implements tax strategies, including experimenting with promising new strategies and ideas.
- Provides effective external CPE training sessions in area of specialization, involving Firm specialists, at least once per year.
Requirements
Eight (8) or more years of relevant tax experience and/or public accounting, private industry accounting or consulting/professional services experience are required. Prior supervisory experience and specialized partnership experience are preferred. A CPA certification, Attorney (admitted to practice in a U.S. jurisdiction), or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent (“EA”) (or the equivalent of one of these designations) is preferred. Other professional degrees or certifications applicable to the role are also preferred.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Statistics.
- Master’s in Accountancy or Taxation preferred.
- CPA certification, Attorney (admitted to practice in a U.S. jurisdiction), or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent (“EA”) (or the equivalent of one of these designations).
- Software proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with tax research databases and tax compliance process software.
Pay
National Range: $99,750 - $262,500
Maryland Range: $99,750 - $262,500
NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $99,750 - $262,500
Washington DC Range: $99,750 - $262,500
Schedule
Full-time position.
