Part-Time Teacher's Aide - Ascension School - Vicariate IV

About the role

A successful candidate will model these values by ensuring student safety during lunch/recess (11 a.m.–1 p.m.) and assisting preschool students with learning activities and dismissal routines (1 p.m.–3 p.m.).

Responsibilities

• Maintain a positive atmosphere in the lunchroom through respectful interactions with students
• Maintain a safe and inclusive environment during recess
• Assist in resolving student disagreements
• Redirect students who are not following rules; praise students who are
• Report any concerns to the homeroom teacher and/or a member of the administrative team
• Ensure a safe, sanitary, and orderly environment
• Follow directions of administration and/or teachers sharing lunch/recess duty
• Follow directions of the preschool teacher
• Monitor and interact with students to keep them engaged in creative, artistic, and physical activities
• Help to maintain a safe, productive, and positive learning environment

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Experience from volunteering or working with and monitoring school‑aged children in an organized work setting (ages 3‑14)
• Respectful and kind disposition
• Must complete Virtus training and maintain it with online training (typically 1 per month)
• Ability to pass first aid, CPR, asthma, and concussion certifications
• Ability to pass background checks and drug tests
• Working knowledge of childhood development
• Physical fitness such as ability to sit on the floor, bend, and lift children
• Creativity and a willingness to sing, dance, and be silly and fun‑loving with children

Pay

This position has an annualized hourly range of $15.00–$16.50. Pay within this range is based on factors such as relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and organizational needs.

Schedule

The role is scheduled for 20 hours per week, covering lunch/recess monitoring from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and preschool aide duties from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Additional hours may be available as a monitor in the Extended Day Program from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., if desired.
