Part Time Teacher

About the role

LearnWell is seeking a passionate and creative teacher to join our team in Lewiston, ME on a part-time basis for the 26-27 school year. This unique position will involve working in a residential behavioral health facility, providing academic support to adolescent school-age patients in a small classroom setting as they receive treatment. Most of our class sizes range from 8 to 15 school-age patients at any one time.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver daily lesson plans
• Provide individualized assistance to students
• Regularly communicate about student progress as needed
• Monitor and adjust teaching strategies to ensure student success
• Maintain accurate attendance and session reports

Schedule

Year-round, 20-hour per week commitment, Monday–Friday, 8:30 am–12:30 pm.

Qualifications

• B.A./B.S. degree from an accredited institution
• Active Maine teaching license required; substitute licenses will not be considered
• Comfortable working with 7th–12th grade students
• Strong organizational skills
• Understanding of subject matter relevant to student needs
• Reliable transportation
