About the Role
A Dishwasher at Carpenter Hotel exceeds expectations by completing tasks that include cleaning dishes, kitchen, food preparation equipment, and utensils. This position works closely with both the front of house and back of house teams to ensure customer satisfaction. All Bunkhouse employees are expected to greet all guests and make each feel important by providing a genuine welcome. Dishwashers must develop and maintain the company’s culture, values, and reputation in the public eye, and with all staff, guests, vendors, and partners. Dishwashers must promote the Bunkhouse Vision in all actions and decisions.
About the Organization
Opened in fall 2018, Carpenter Hotel is a South Austin hotel nestled in an old pecan grove on the edge of Zilker Park. The hotel features a pool with a community deck and Q Hut pavilion, and each of its 93 rooms includes a terrace. Guests can enjoy fare from the all-day Coffee Bar or dine in the restaurant, Carpenters Hall. The hotel is centrally located, with easy access to Lady Bird Lake, downtown Austin, and local attractions.
Responsibilities
- Adhere to all standards of operations, policies and procedures, manuals, training material, memos, and verbal instruction
- Bus dining room and patio, keeping tables clear of dishes and food remnants
- Wash dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, and/or pans using dishwashers or by hand
- Place clean dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment in storage areas
- Maintain kitchen work areas, equipment, and utensils in clean and orderly condition
- Stock supplies such as food and utensils in serving stations, cupboards, refrigerators, and salad bars
- Sweep and scrub floors
- Clean garbage cans with water or steam
- Sort and remove trash, placing it in designated pickup areas
- Assist in unloading deliveries (food and supplies)
- Ensure open lines of communication via email, logbooks, meetings, etc., to meet all needs of the restaurant
- Maintain a high level of cleanliness and safety in the work area
- Ensure all equipment is maintained in good, safe working condition
- Maintain awareness of safety issues throughout the property and keep abreast of safety and emergency procedures and OSHA requirements
- Attend relevant meetings
- Perform additional tasks as needed based on fluctuating operational demands to exceed customer expectations
Requirements
- Six (6) months of related experience in hospitality or the service industry
- Ability to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) of the workplace
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees or guests
- Good communication skills and the ability to resolve conflict
- Thorough understanding of Bunkhouse policies
