About the role
This role involves collecting, processing, labeling, and mailing blood and urine samples to laboratories, ensuring specimen integrity and compliance with safety and privacy standards.
Responsibilities
- Collect patient specimens using established procedures
- Prepare samples for testing and verify requisitions
- Identify patients and accurately document specimens
- Maintain supplies and provide training to new staff
- Follow safety protocols, OSHA, and HIPAA regulations
- Travel to additional sites as needed and perform other duties
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED, with phlebotomy certification
- Proficiency with computers and technology
- Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and background check clearance
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience or 1 year inpatient hospital experience
Physical requirements
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds
- Stand, sit, bend, and use vision and hand dexterity regularly
- Work may involve exposure to blood, bodily fluids, chemicals, and varying temperatures
