About the role

Under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist, this part-time position involves procuring, preparing, packaging, and distributing medications and pharmaceutical supplies to ensure quality pharmaceutical care for all patients.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain an established inventory of drugs and commonly used supplies; reorder and stock items upon delivery to ensure immediate availability.
  • Maintain competency and follow departmental, USP, DEA, and FDA guidelines when repackaging and compounding pharmaceutical products.
  • Operate, troubleshoot, monitor, and clean departmental automation and equipment.
  • Ensure Pharmacist product verification and facilitate the timely and appropriate distribution of medications to maintain product integrity.
  • Maintain accurate records and patient profiles including charging and crediting.
  • Respond to customers' needs by answering phone calls, receiving and distributing messages, and triaging requests appropriately.
  • Implement appropriate time management and prioritize tasks to ensure timely and safe patient care.
  • Support operational functions such as minor housekeeping activities and department cleaning/disinfecting/decontaminating standards to maintain the work area.
  • Conduct regular quality assurance inspections focusing on TJC requirements, including the examination of product integrity and expiration.
  • Maintain competency and follow departmental, OSHA, USP, and EPA guidelines to safely and accurately handle, prepare, distribute, and dispose of hazardous and non-hazardous products.
  • Participate in professional activities and organizations to stay updated on current trends, practices, and developments.
  • Complete required training and competency assessments in a timely manner.
  • Assist in the orientation and training of new personnel.
  • Provide technical information and guidance in pharmacy techniques and policies to ensure efficient, quality service.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.
  • Successful completion of an ASHP accredited technician training program or enrollment in a professional-related school preferred.
  • 6 months experience as Pharmacy Technician or completion of ASHP-accredited tech training program preferred.
  • Current CPhT certification through either PTCB or NHA and active Georgia Pharmacy Technician registration, or current enrollment in an accredited School of Pharmacy with a current Georgia Pharmacy Intern license.
  • Maintain certification and registration through entire length of employment.
