About the role
K&N Legal Defense PLLC is seeking a part-time litigation attorney to assist with defending consumer debt collection lawsuits and related legal matters. This is a flexible, remote contract role designed for attorneys who want meaningful litigation work without the demands of client acquisition, office requirements, or a traditional full-time litigation schedule.
Responsibilities
- Serve as attorney of record in jurisdictions where you are licensed
- Review complaints, pleadings, and case documents
- Evaluate each matter for affirmative defenses, counterclaims, and consumer protection issues
- Review, revise, approve, and file answers and other pleadings
- Draft motions, responses, and other litigation documents when appropriate
- Track and manage court deadlines within the firm’s case management system
- Communicate with opposing counsel regarding case status, litigation issues, and potential resolution
- Evaluate litigation strategy and settlement options that protect the client’s interests
- Oversee litigation matters where the attorney is serving as attorney of record
- Coordinate with the firm’s intake, case management, negotiation, and appearance counsel teams
Requirements
- Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
- Ability to serve as attorney of record in jurisdictions where licensed
- Litigation experience preferred
- Strong legal research, writing, and issue-spotting skills
- Ability to review pleadings and identify affirmative defenses, counterclaims, and procedural issues
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment
- Comfort using case management systems and electronic filing platforms
- Consumer debt defense, civil litigation, or consumer protection experience is a plus
- Multiple bar licenses are a plus
Qualifications
