Lifeguard

• Essential Functions:
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable codes, laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies and procedures.
  • Maintains swimming pool and facility.
  • Performs customer service functions.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Lifeguard/Instructor

  • Ensures compliance with all applicable codes, laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies and procedures.
  • Maintains swimming pool and facility.
  • Performs customer service functions.
  • Instructs swimming lessons.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Part-Time Lifeguard: Must be age 15 or older. Must be able to pass a water/skills test. High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Part-Time Lifeguard/Instructor: Must be age 16 or older. Must be able to pass a water/skills test. High School Diploma or GED supplemented by one year of experience in lifeguarding is preferred.

Licenses and Certifications

• Part-Time Lifeguard: Lifeguard, CPR, and First Aid certifications are preferred.
• Part-Time Lifeguard/Instructor: Lifeguard, Water Safety Instructor, CPR, and First Aid certifications are preferred.

Physical Abilities

• Tasks require the ability to exert moderate, though not constant physical effort, typically involving some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and prolonged standing, and which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (12-20 pounds).

Sensory Requirements

• Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades of colors, and visual cues or signals.
• Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.

Environmental Factors

• Performance of essential functions may require exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, fumes, hazardous materials, fire, unsafe structures, heights, confined spaces, machinery, electric currents, toxic agents, animal/wildlife attacks, animal/human bites, water hazards, violence, disease, or difficult customers.
