Responsibilities

  • Ensure the life and wellbeing of users as a certified Red Cross Lifeguard.
  • Maintain lifeguard stations and perform custodial tasks to ensure a safe and sanitary environment.
  • Assist with facility and equipment set-ups, tear-downs, and storage.
  • Enforce all aquatics center policies, rules, and operating procedures.
  • Take precautions to avert accidents by eliminating hazards and educating users about safety.
  • Ensure proper medical aid and coverage is available when necessary.
  • Maintain high sanitation and safety standards in all areas of the aquatics center.
  • Assist in the maintenance and care of all Aquatics Center equipment.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as taking inventory, usage counts, and monitoring water balance.
  • Assist teams and coaches during their visits and exhibit friendly customer service.
  • Adhere to USOPC Core Values and Guiding Principles.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Aquatics Management team.

Requirements

  • Current American Red Cross CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer.
  • Current American Red Cross Lifeguarding and First Aid certification.
  • Minimum of 2 years of lifeguarding experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interact effectively with users and staff at all levels.
  • Ability to work with sport leadership.

Tools, Equipment, and Work Conditions

  • Standard office equipment (PC, software, etc.).
  • Timing/recording equipment, PA system, and video capture systems.
  • Pool operation, testing, and lifesaving equipment.
  • Aquatic training and custodial equipment.
  • Prolonged exposure to warm, humid, and/or outdoor environments.
  • Prolonged standing, walking, or sitting.
  • Non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call.

Pay

Hiring pay range: $17.00 - $17.50 per hour.

Schedule

This is a part-time, non-exempt position intended to work 20 hours per week.

Benefits

  • Eligible for the Annual Incentive Award Program with a 5% target (program may change or be eliminated at any time).

Location

Colorado Springs Olympic & Paralympic Training Center.
