Part-Time Lecturer Pool - Biomedical Engineering (AY 26/27)

About the role

Part-Time Lecturer positions are available in the Biomedical Engineering Department at Cal Poly, during the 2026-27 academic year. Part-time appointments are made from a pool of approved applicants, as determined by need, and contingent on funding.

Responsibilities

• Teach biomedical engineering courses

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in engineering or related area is required.
• Demonstrated teaching ability as well as evidence of ongoing professional development and competence.
• Demonstrated experience and commitment to student-centered learning and teaching, as well as the ability to collaborate in multidisciplinary settings.
• Demonstrated proficiency in written and oral use of the English language.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree, university teaching and appropriate industrial experience preferred.
• Experience in working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive and inclusive environment.
• Relevant work experience and those who bring professional capabilities.

Special Conditions

• The person holding this position is considered a 'mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.
• Following a conditional offer of employment, a background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate may start work with Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may result in the withdrawal of the offer of employment.
• Current employees who are offered positions on campus will be required to undergo a background check for any position where a background check is required by law or that Cal Poly has designated as sensitive.

About The Department

Cal Poly's Biomedical Engineering Department offers B.S. degrees in Biomedical Engineering and General Engineering. It also offers the Master of Engineering Degree in several specializations, to include Biomedical Engineering; and the Master of Biomedical Engineering, as well as a specialization in Stem Cell Research.
