California State University, Stanislaus invites applications for a pool of part-time lecturer candidates in Art History. Selected candidates will teach one or more courses, with assignments appointed on an as-needed basis during the Fall and Spring semesters.

About the Role

The teaching assignment may require instruction in lecture-discussion courses during the day, in the evening, in person, and/or in an online/distance education format. Potential courses include:

  • Lower Division Survey Courses:
    • Art Appreciation
    • Ancient Survey
    • Modern Survey
    • Non-Western Survey
    • Asian Art Survey
    • Islamic Art Survey
  • Upper-Division Courses:
    • Art of the Classical World
    • Art of the Medieval World
    • Italian Renaissance
    • Northern Renaissance Art
    • Art of the Baroque Age
    • Modern Art (1800-1870)
    • Modern Art (1870-1970)
    • Art of the Post Modern Era
    • American Art

Requirements

  • MA in Art History or closely related field at the time of application.
  • Evidence of effective university-level teaching or TA experience in Art History.

Qualifications (Preferred)

  • Ph.D. in Art History or closely related field.
  • Evidence of scholarly accomplishment.
  • University teaching experience beyond teaching assistantships, with outstanding teaching evaluations.

Pay

Compensation is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Newly hired lecturers with terminal degrees are placed in Range 3 of the salary schedule, while others are normally placed in Range 2. Starting salaries are usually at or near the minimum of the range. The full-time (15 units per semester) monthly base salaries are prorated based on the number of units assigned and paid in six monthly payments for each full semester.
