About the role
The Campus Police Department is a community-oriented agency committed to delivering professional police services while providing a safe physical environment for the campus populations to engage in learning and community activities. The Part-Time Intelligence Operations Center Technician helps to fulfill this mission by:
- Operating radio, telephone, and computer equipment to respond and direct public safety resources as requested.
- Operating a state-of-the art, campus wide, integrated electronic security system (access controls, fire suppression/paging system, extensive CCTV system).
- Applying inductive reasoning skills toward analyzing Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) pertaining to current or forecasted threat pictures, as well as business intelligence for reputation management and customer service.
- Synthesizing information into actionable reports.
Responsibilities

- Operates department telephone system; receives emergency and non-emergency complaints via the telephone from the public regarding crime, medical emergencies, or other public safety hazards and issues; determines the nature of the call and the appropriate police response required.
- Operates police radio system; dispatches the appropriate police units to calls for service; ensures officer safety by monitoring radio channels to maintain unit location information and status, to receive information from police units, and to disseminate ongoing or updated information to police units.
- Operates and monitors integrated electronic security systems (access controls, fire suppression/paging systems, CCTV systems) for suspected criminal activity, activity that disrupts the educational environment, or any activity that poses a potential risk to persons or property at the College.
- Utilizes Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) technology to provide near real-time tactical intelligence from social media information and social media analysis in support of current police, emergency, and risk management operations.
- Explores, assesses, and provides meaningful and actionable information to current and future efforts of Schoolcraft College; conducts both large scale media analysis and in-depth comprehensive research and assessments of specific targets.
- Continually updates existing methodologies by conducting research of new social media sites and search tools.
- Synthesizes and organizes information recovered to provide Schoolcraft College administrators, campus police, risk management, and other College partners with high-impact, actionable intelligence.
- Delivers reports, briefings, and presentations as required.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School diploma
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and hear the English language clearly and distinctly.
- Proficiency in operating computers, web searching, and information gathering via a broad range of media, as well as familiarity with video recording software.
- Possesses organizational skills, a keen attention to detail, and superior multi-tasking abilities.
- Ability to successfully interact with diverse groups of students, staff, faculty, and the community at large.
- No criminal convictions and no dependency on alcohol or illicit drugs.
- Reasonable related work experience, which would indicate dependability, maturity, and the ability to exercise good judgement.
- Must pass thorough fingerprint and background investigations.
Skills
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
- Ability to communicate effectively, respond to questions from prospective and current employees, and groups of managers.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Salary: Pay range is $16.65-$26.17 per hour

Schedule
Primarily weekend coverage, 8am-6pm (Saturday) and 8am-1pm (Sunday). May cover weekday shifts for full-time IOC Technician on either day shift (7am-3pm) or afternoon shift (3pm-11pm).
