Part-Time Instructor, Broadband Telecommunications – Davidson Correctional Center

Position Summary

Davidson-Davie Community College is seeking part-time Broadband Telecommunications Instructors to teach a vocational training program at Davidson Correctional Center. This role supports inmate rehabilitation by preparing participants for employment in the telecommunications industry upon release.

Key Responsibilities

• Promote the College’s mission, values, and vision.
• Complete C-Tech Instructor Certification training and pass required exams.
• Deliver the C-Tech standardized curriculum on broadband infrastructure, fiber optics installation, and network cabling.
• Conduct hands-on, lab-based training using C-Tech’s proprietary equipment.
• Assess and evaluate student progress through exams, assignments, and practical projects.
• Maintain a safe, secure, and organized classroom/lab environment in accordance with facility policies.
• Adapt instructional strategies to meet diverse learning needs within a correctional setting.
• Mentor students toward earning C-Tech certifications and successful reentry into the workforce.
• Collaborate effectively with correctional officers and facility staff.
• Maintain accurate records, reports, attendance, and grades as per institutional policies.

Minimum Qualifications

• At least 2 years of hands-on experience in broadband telecommunications (fiber optics, coaxial cable installation, or network troubleshooting) OR An Associate’s degree in Information or Telecommunication Technology (or a related field) from a regionally accredited institution.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
• Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and teamwork abilities.
• Understanding and appreciation of the community college mission.

Vocational & Continuing Education

• Minimum of 1 year of teaching experience in a classroom or lab setting.
• Experience in mentoring or training others.

Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of teaching experience in a classroom or lab setting.
• Experience in mentoring or training others.
• Courses in community college teaching are highly desirable.
