Part-Time Law Enforcement Instructor

About the role

Under limited supervision, performs administrative, record keeping, educational, and instructional duties in the classroom setting. Responsibilities include preparing and delivering lectures, maintaining accreditation for all programs, maintaining student attendance records, and preparing and delivering individual and group instruction.

Responsibilities

• Provides certification instruction and continuing education courses
• Reviews the student to determine they have demonstrated competency on each skill
• Assists the program coordinator with ensuring that all required materials, equipment, and supplies are available for students
• Maintains attendance roster on a daily basis
• Prepares individual and group instruction using a variety of teaching techniques and mediums
• Returns completed roster to director at the end of class with signatures from students and instructor

Qualifications

• Holds and maintains a current North Carolina Criminal Justice Instructor credential
• Holds and maintains a current Specialty Instructor credential as needed
• The teaching experience should incorporate educational methodology, curriculum development, test construction, and measurement/evaluation
• Valid NC driver license
• Effective communication with students in a teacher/student setting in a variety of job search, job readiness, and computer subjects
• Computer software knowledge and experience
• Professional and effective communication with staff and students
• Experience teaching computer skills and information to adults preferred
• Experience teaching job search and readiness skills to adults preferred
