About the role
The Department of Professional and Public Writing in the Harrington School of Communication and Media and College of Arts and Sciences seeks part-time faculty to teach on a per-course basis. Possible areas of instruction include first-year writing, professional writing, technical writing, and/or digital writing and rhetoric. All courses meet in-person and are at the undergraduate level.
Responsibilities
- Teach one or two courses in the Department of Professional and Public Writing.
- Hold regular office hours and be available to assist students enrolled in their courses.
- Stay current in fields of instruction and with pedagogical methods and instructional technologies.
- Most courses are three credits and meet in-person for approximately three hours per week over a fourteen-week semester at the Kingston campus.
Requirements
- Master’s or doctoral degree in Rhetoric and Composition, Technical and Professional Writing, English, or a related field.
- Experience teaching at the college level.
- Experience teaching in one or more of the following areas: technical writing, professional writing, and/or first-year writing or closely related fields.
- Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups/populations.
