PART-TIME FACULTY, PROFESSIONAL AND PUBLIC WRITING

About the role

The Department of Professional and Public Writing in the Harrington School of Communication and Media and College of Arts and Sciences seeks part-time faculty to teach on a per-course basis. Possible areas of instruction include first-year writing, professional writing, technical writing, and/or digital writing and rhetoric. All courses meet in-person and are at the undergraduate level.

Responsibilities

• Teach one or two courses in the Department of Professional and Public Writing.
• Hold regular office hours and be available to assist students enrolled in their courses.
• Stay current in fields of instruction and with pedagogical methods and instructional technologies.
• Most courses are three credits and meet in-person for approximately three hours per week over a fourteen-week semester at the Kingston campus.

Requirements

• Master’s or doctoral degree in Rhetoric and Composition, Technical and Professional Writing, English, or a related field.
• Experience teaching at the college level.
• Experience teaching in one or more of the following areas: technical writing, professional writing, and/or first-year writing or closely related fields.
• Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups/populations.
