Duties And Responsibilities

  • Teach up to 2 courses in Graphic Design per semester.
  • Prepare course materials, syllabi; evaluate and grade student assignments.
  • Integrate the use of a learning management system (Blackboard Ultra) and other relevant new technology into instruction where applicable.
  • Teach a varied schedule of courses that may include day/night, early morning, accelerated and virtual courses.
  • Apply culturally relevant pedagogies to the teaching and learning process.
  • Cultivate an inclusive and supportive learning environment that values and respects student diversity.
  • Bring real-world industry experience into the classroom, sharing insights, case studies, and practical applications.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in graphic design, or related area.
  • Minimum 2 years professional experience working in Graphic Design.
  • Professional industry experience in Graphic Design.
  • Experience teaching courses at the college level.
  • Willingness to incorporate (and a familiarity with) current trends in new technology.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively mentor and advise students.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Software.
  • Demonstrated commitment to promoting belonging, inclusion, and multicultural competence in an educational and work environment.
  • Access to a personal computer with virus protection that can connect to the internet outside of the work location (i.e., office, classroom, college campus).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Recent teaching experience at a college or university.
  • Knowledge of UI / UX.
  • Knowledge of Figma.
  • Experience with creative workflows using Generative AI tools.

Subject to available funds, the college may be able to provide temporary access to resources.

Employees must live in Maryland or a state where the College has payroll reciprocity (DC, VA, PA, WV, DE, MA).
