About the role
The Associate I, Donation Services is typically the first point of contact for customers dropping off items at retail centers and/or stand-alone donation centers. This role provides excellent and friendly customer service, including greeting customers, answering questions, and assisting with lifting or unloading donations from vehicles or other areas. Associates handle donated goods with care and maintain a safe, organized, and clean environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide excellent customer service by greeting customers in a timely manner and answering product questions as needed.
- Assist customers by unloading donations from vehicles or other areas.
- Handle donated items with care and sort them into appropriate bins or production areas.
- Inspect all donations and make decisions on quality to sort items for the sales floor or shipment to other locations.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and clean environment in the donations entrance and parking lot areas.
- Maintain remote donation centers, sheds, and/or trailers, following opening and closing procedures when applicable.
- Ensure supplies are well-stocked at remote sites as necessary.
- Track and report donation levels daily to prevent overstocking at remote locations.
- Communicate promptly when donation warehouses or trailers are full and a truck is needed.
- Follow all retail center and donation center policies and procedures.
- Assist drivers in loading and unloading donations onto trucks when necessary.
- Follow all safety processes and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
- Cross-train in other departments or areas and act as a backup when required.
- Report to store ADC or stand-alone centers as necessary.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- One year of retail experience is preferred.
- Ability to make decisions following Goodwill standards and guidelines.
- Basic computer skills to log into systems, order supplies, and send/receive emails.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions with varying temperatures.
- Ability to use safety equipment such as dollies or pallet jacks to assist with lifting heavy objects.
- Ability to read, comprehend, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Strong communication skills for interacting with customers, managers, supervisors, staff, and peers.
- Flexibility to work a varied schedule, including weekends, evenings, and holidays, with occasional overtime.
Skills
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy items (up to 45 lbs frequently and over 45 lbs occasionally).
- Physical stamina for continuous standing, walking, bending, twisting, and reaching.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.

Pay
$16.45 per hour.
Schedule
Donation hours are Monday through Saturday, 8:00 AM to 8:30 PM, and Sunday, 9:00 AM to 7:30 PM.
