About the role

The Associate I, Donation Services is typically the first point of contact for customers that are dropping off items at retail centers and/or stand-alone donation centers (ADC).

Responsibilities

  • Provides excellent customer service, greeting customers in a timely manner, answering product questions as needed.
  • Affords assistance to every customer by unloading donations from vehicle or other areas.
  • Ensures that donated items are handled with care and sorted into appropriate bins or production areas.
  • Inspects all donations within assigned areas and makes decisions on quality to sort appropriately for the sales floor or to be shipped to other locations.
  • Maintains a safe, organized, and clean environment for both customers and fellow employees within the donations entrance and parking lot areas.
  • Maintains remote donation centers, sheds, and/or trailer if applicable, following appropriate opening and closing procedures when working at a remote site.
  • Ensures supplies are kept well stocked at remote site as necessary.
  • Tracks and reports on donation levels daily to ensure trailers do not become over stocked when working in remote donation center locations.
  • Timely communication when donation warehouse and/or trailer(s) are becoming full and a truck is needed.
  • Follows all retail center/donation center policies and procedures.
  • Affords assistance in loading and unloading donations onto the truck when necessary.
  • Follows all safety processes and procedures to help provide a safe working environment for employees and customers.
  • Crosstrain in other departments or areas; act as a backup for other areas as required.
  • May be required to report to the store ADC or stand-alone center when necessary.

Qualifications

  • A High School diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • One (1) year of retail experience is preferred.
  • Must be able to make decisions by following Goodwill standards and guidelines.
  • Must have basic computer skills to be able to log into a computer system to order supplies and to send and receive email.
  • Must be able to work in various weather conditions with varying temperatures.
  • Must be able to use safety equipment to assist with lifting heavy objects such as a dolly or pallet jack.
  • Able to read, comprehend, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Able to communicate effectively with customers, managers, supervisors, staff, and peers.
  • Able to work a varied schedule to include weekends, evenings, and holidays with occasional overtime as necessary.

Pay

$16.45 per hour.

Schedule

Variety of schedules to include weekends, evenings, and holidays with occasional overtime as necessary.
