Part-Time City Driver

About the role

This role involves picking up and delivering freight between Service Centers and customers, supporting sales efforts, and ensuring timely, safe transportation.

Responsibilities

• Operating tractor-trailers, including doubles and straight trucks
• Performing daily safety and pre-trip inspections
• Hooking/unhooking trailers and securing freight with appropriate tools
• Handling freight with motorized/manual equipment and repairing damaged cargo
• Managing documentation, complying with hazardous material regulations, and collecting freight payments
• Communicating with dispatch and customers to coordinate deliveries and solicit additional business
• Potentially performing tire chaining or duties of road drivers/dock employees as needed
• Adhering to all laws, regulations, and company policies

Requirements

• Class A CDL with double/triple, hazardous materials, and tank endorsements
• At least one year of recent driving experience or completion of a Driver Development Course
• Valid Motor Vehicle Record and DOT compliance
• Ability to lift up to 100 pounds, sit for extended periods, and follow instructions
• Effective communication skills and ability to work independently or in a team

Working conditions

Driving in various weather and road conditions, exposure to noise, vibration, dust, diesel fumes, and DOT-shipped hazardous materials. Hours vary based on operational needs.
