Part Time - City Driver

About the role

This role involves picking up and delivering freight between Service Centers and customers while supporting sales efforts.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer combinations, including doubles, triples, or straight trucks
• Perform daily safety and pre-trip inspections
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies
• Handle freight using motorized/manual equipment and secure cargo with pallets, straps, and ropes
• Verify documentation, adhere to hazardous material regulations, and manage freight charges
• Communicate with dispatch and customers regarding deliveries, delays, and needs
• Provide customer service and identify opportunities for additional business
• May perform tire chaining and duties of road drivers or dock employees as needed
• Comply with laws, regulations, and company policies

Requirements

• Class A CDL with double/triple, hazardous materials, and tank endorsements
• At least one year of recent driving experience or completion of a FedEx Freight Driver Development Course
• Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record and compliance with DOT regulations
• Ability to perform basic math, lift up to 100 pounds, and operate in various weather conditions
• Strong communication skills and ability to work independently or in a team
• Hazardous materials endorsement must be obtained within 120 days

Driving in diverse weather and road conditions, exposure to noise, vibration, dust, fumes, and hazardous materials.
