Part-Time Bartender- Carpenter Hall
About the Role
A Bartender at Carpenter Hotel will mix and serve drinks to patrons (directly or through wait staff), wait on bar patrons, serve items from the bar menu, create bar menu items, and handle all food preparation associated with bar service. This role requires excellent communication skills, conflict resolution abilities, and a thorough understanding of Bunkhouse policies. All employees are expected to greet guests warmly, uphold the company’s culture and values, and maintain a positive reputation with guests, vendors, and partners.
About the Organization
Opened in fall 2018, Carpenter Hotel is a South Austin retreat nestled in an old pecan grove on the edge of Zilker Park. The hotel features a pool with a community deck and Q Hut pavilion, 93 rooms with private terraces, an all-day Coffee Bar, and Carpenters Hall restaurant. Located near Lady Bird Lake, downtown Austin, and Zilker Park, the hotel offers easy access to local attractions like Peter Pan mini-golf, ZACH Theatre, and Austin City Limits.
Responsibilities
- Take beverage orders from serving staff or directly from patrons.
- Mix ingredients to prepare and garnish cocktails and other beverages according to Bunkhouse standards.
- Serve snacks or food items to customers or submit orders to the kitchen.
- Clean glasses, utensils, and bar equipment.
- Arrange bottles and glasses to create attractive displays.
- Assist in planning and organizing the menu and operations of the Cocktail Lounge or Bar.
- Respond immediately to guest comments and concerns; inform supervisors and assist in implementing corrective measures.
- Collect payment for orders and balance cash receipts.
- Verify customer identification to ensure compliance with age requirements for alcohol purchases.
- Manage liability related to excessive drinking by persuading customers to stop or arranging transportation for intoxicated patrons.
- Order or requisition liquors and supplies.
- Ask disruptive or unruly customers to leave.
- Maintain a high level of cleanliness and safety in the work area.
- Perform additional tasks as needed to meet operational demands and exceed customer expectations.

Qualifications
- Moderate noise level in the work environment.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds daily; lifts over 50 pounds require assistance.
- Physical demands include sitting, standing, walking, pushing, kneeling, bending, balancing, squatting, reaching, and stretching for up to eight hours per day.
