Position Summary
The Bartender will prepare and serve alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages to patrons, oversee the stock of liquor and bar supplies, and collect money for drinks served.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Receives orders from patrons and wait staff.
- Prepares and serves liquor, mixed drinks, wine, beer, and nonalcoholic drinks as ordered.
- Maintains the bar and keeps it clean and organized.
- Attractsively displays glasses and liquor bottles.
- Keeps bar supplied with snacks.
- Safeguards the bar by ensuring customers are of legal drinking age by checking photo IDs.
- Collections money from customers for drinks prepared and served.
- Uses proper judgment and, when necessary, refuses service to patrons who are intoxicated or disruptive.
- Sets up and cleans up bar area.
- Performs other work-related duties as requested, to include assisting in activities in the lounge, dining room, and catering.
Required Skills/Abilities
- Ability to speak, read, and write English.
- Ability to effectively relate to managers, and co-workers.
- Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts and use a calculator.
- Extensive knowledge of drink preparation or service.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and focus on serving customers.
- Ability to remain calm when dealing with unruly and argumentative patrons.
- Ability to learn cash register software used by bar or restaurant.
Education And Experience
- Completion of mixology, bar keeping, or other related training required.
- One year of related experience preferred.
- Ability to manage multiple functions simultaneously and maintain composure and objectivity under pressure.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Regularly required to talk and/or hear.
- Frequently required to stand for a prolonged period of time.
- Occasionally required to sit; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and twist, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Must occasionally lift, move, push, and/or pull up to 15 pounds.
- Must frequently use computer and other special operating equipment.
