Parks Maintenance Worker - Urban Parks - (Seasonal Position)

Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of maintenance tasks in parks and athletic areas.
  • Support exciting community and youth recreation programs by assisting with baseball field preparation, including dragging and lining infields, as well as helping set up sports fields for play.
  • Work alongside experienced Park staff to enhance and maintain beautiful landscapes, gaining hands-on experience in irrigation troubleshooting, turfgrass care, and facility upkeep.
  • Help keep irrigation systems running efficiently through maintenance and repair, contributing to lush, green parks for all to enjoy.
  • Maintain cleanliness, refresh paint, and ensure amenities are well-kept.
  • Perform various landscape and athletic field maintenance tasks, making a direct impact on the park’s appearance and functionality.
  • Perform essential and foundational customer service related activities, including litter and trash removal, as well as restroom cleaning and stocking.
  • Safely operate equipment such as trimmers, edgers, backpack blowers, walk-behind rototillers, and seeders.
  • Safely operate hand and power tools.
  • Safely operate assigned vehicles such as trucks and tractors.

Requirements

  • Experience working in maintenance environments.
  • Six months of experience in irrigation.

Qualifications

  • Possess, or obtain upon hire, and maintain a valid, non-probationary driver’s license not subject to restrictions.

Skills

  • Ability to safely operate equipment such as trimmers, edgers, backpack blowers, walk-behind rototillers, and seeders.
  • Ability to safely operate hand and power tools.
  • Ability to safely operate assigned vehicles such as trucks and tractors.

Benefits

Benefits limited to those required by applicable state and federal laws, which include Worker's Compensation, Medicare, Unemployment Insurance, and PERA (Public Employees' Retirement Association).

Pay

Salary $15.16 - $23.94 Hourly

Schedule

Normal work hours will be from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday (weekends will be required for special events, such as tournaments).
