Park Quality Representative (Part-time Seasonal)

About the Role

Provides outstanding guest service and assists the Operations Department in contributing to the mission of ZooTampa at Lowry Park, one of the most popular zoos in the southeastern U.S. with over 1.2 million visitors annually. The Zoo encompasses 56 acres of naturalistic wildlife habitats and offers educational programming, recreational amenities, and immersive animal encounters.

Our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and care for animals; create exceptional personalized experiences that connect people with wildlife and each other in fun, immersive ways.

Responsibilities

• Clean Zoo grounds and facilities, including restrooms, trashcans, common eating areas, behind-the-scenes areas, and Zoo School areas.
• Perform trash removal, sweeping, general cleaning, and dusting of assigned Zoo facilities and equipment.
• Ensure all pathways are clear of trash and litter.
• Conduct cleaning projects in designated behind-the-scenes areas such as the Animal Care Campus and Zoo School facility.
• Perform trash pickups using a Zoo-provided vehicle.
• Complete designated cleaning and housekeeping projects as assigned.
• Provide exceptional customer service and enforce policies concerning guests and employees.
• Respond to internal product requests in a timely manner.
• Follow safety guidelines to ensure the well-being of guests and staff.
• Inspect completed projects to ensure all equipment, tools, and materials are secured, blockades and tape are removed, and the area is guest-ready.
• Conduct all activities in alignment with Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) standards, relevant laws, safety standards, and animal welfare guidelines.

Requirements

• High school or equivalency diploma required.
• Cleaning or housekeeping experience strongly preferred.
• Customer service experience preferred.
• Effective communication skills and ability to develop positive relationships across departments.
• Ability to complete projects efficiently and to management satisfaction.
• Courteous and tactful interaction with employees, peers, superiors, and the public.
• Knowledge of occupational hazards and appropriate safety precautions.
• Demonstrates thoroughness and monitors own work for quality.
• Ability to follow specific instructions and work flexibly in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive attitude.
• Ability to communicate ideas and contribute effectively to the department.

Other Requirements

• Ability to work in extreme weather conditions typical to west central Florida (heat, rain, or cold) and stand/walk for extended periods.
• Ability to use radio, telephone, and computer to communicate and follow instructions.
• Manual dexterity to handle keys, cleaning supplies, tools, and equipment.
• Sufficient auditory, visual acuity, and communication skills for guest and animal safety.
• Willingness to work varied and long shifts, including holidays, weekends, and special events.
• Ability to plan, work, and staff special events and exhibits, including unexpected shifts.
• Physical ability to work in various positions, including sitting, bending, reaching, standing, walking, and lifting/carrying up to 30 lbs.
• Ability to navigate paved as well as rough or uneven pathways.

Schedule

Maximum scheduled hours are 28 per week. Minimum availability is three days per week, including holidays and weekends, with a variable schedule.
