Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or successful completion of GED.
- No prior experience is required.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and must have and maintain a satisfactory driving record based on the City of Hampton’s criteria.
Additional Requirements
- Requires shift work to include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Requires effective communication with internal and external customers.
- May be considered “essential personnel” during city emergency situations, or at the direction of the City Manager or designee which may include long hours and unusual schedules.
Examples of Work
- Enforces rules and regulations of recreational facilities and campgrounds to maintain discipline and ensure safety.
- Oversees the daily operations of recreational facilities.
- Administers first aid according to prescribed procedures and notifies emergency medical personnel when necessary.
- Organizes, leads, and promotes interest in recreational activities such as arts, crafts, sports, games, camping, and hobbies.
- Greets new arrivals to activities, introducing them to other participants, explaining facility rules, and encouraging participation; maintains records and collects fees as necessary.
- Maintains cleanliness of parks, shelters, and facilities; removes all trash, checks and cleans restrooms.

- Demonstrates regular and punctual attendance.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
