Summary
We are seeking a Paratransit Schedule Planner to join our team at NJ TRANSIT. This position involves analyzing schedules, coordinating transfers, preparing reports, and optimizing service for certified disabled customers.Roles and Responsibilities
- Analyzes schedules for efficiency and optimal run/tour usage, productivity, and customer service delivery, making recommendations for changes.
- Prepares and coordinates transfer trips for accurate regional destinations, redefining “best bus” options within predefined zones.
- Prepares reports for analysis and follows through on statistical information within department deadlines.
- Collaborates with regional service providers and other departments to optimize live day group trips and maintain communication.
- Participates in meetings with service regional provider managers and ADA staff to propose operational changes for efficient service.
- Reviews and modifies daily schedules, analyzing template itineraries and actual records using AVL data.
- Works with the Senior Schedule Planner and ADA staff to represent the scheduling group on regional run cuts creation, ensuring customer service and NJ TRANSIT goals are met.
- Processes schedule matching functions and batch schedules to enhance operational efficiency and on-time performance.
- Manages customer subscriptions, standing orders, and changes, adhering to Access Link methodology and parameters.
- Handles customer inquiries via email, phone, and web, validating trip information and interpreting itineraries.
- Analyzes proposals to modify or adapt service areas or speed zones, collaborating with NJ TRANSIT fixed route bus operations.
- Develops and implements service policies, procedures, and operational practices, considering client eligibility and ADA rights.
- Performs other duties as needed and dictated by operational requirements.
Education, Experience and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent, with at least 3 years of applied work experience for each year of education.
- Three (3) years of experience in Paratransit or Fixed Route transportation scheduling, service monitoring, or dispatching.
Knowledge and Skills
- Experience with Trapeze paratransit scheduling software at scheduler or service monitor level.
- Independent decision-making ability based on multiple variables for scheduling solutions.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word.
- Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
- Ability to meet critical deadlines and manage multiple responsibilities.
- Teamwork and cooperation skills.
- Ability to work weekends and shift work.
