Part-Time Paratransit Operator

Job Requirements

Provides safe, reliable, courteous transportation services to D.A.R.T. customers of the Belle Urban System.

• Safe operation of the bus according to established rules, practices and published schedules.
• Comply with DOT/FTA and ADA guidelines, rules and regulations.
• Provides general information to passengers on how to use the D.A.R.T. transportation services provided by The Belle Urban System.
• Collect fares and D.A.R.T. tickets from passengers and account for daily fares on required paperwork.
• Treat all customers with friendliness and consideration.
• Take special care to meet the needs of persons with disabilities per ADA and company guidelines.
• Operate lift in accordance with proper procedures. Secure wheelchairs properly.
• Perform safety and operational inspection of bus to ensure passenger comfort and bus reliability. Report any defects to maintenance personnel on proper forms.
• Conform to all bulletins and special notices.
• Comply with current labor agreement between union and management.
• Take direction from supervisors and dispatchers.
• Report to work on time and maintain good attendance record.
• Complete reports and other paperwork as required.
• Must be able to work irregular hours.

Supplemental Information

Performance requires a normal physical ability to do some bending, light lifting and carrying. Ability to pass a physical examination and drug test. This is a safety-sensitive position, subject to random drug/alcohol testing per DOT rules and regulations.

Other Experience and Qualifications

• Minimum qualifications: Must have a valid WI drivers license. Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Requirements: Ability to communicate well with the public. Good customer relations and people skills. Must be able to read and complete basic reports. High school graduate preferred. Good driving record.
