Part-Time Paratransit Dispatcher

Description

The position involves transporting clients curb-to-curb for the City of Grand Forks' mobility-impaired riders. The dispatcher oversees drivers, dispatches vehicles, and serves as a communication link between the agency and its drivers. They handle customer complaints and manage scheduling issues.

Examples of Duties

• Transmit assignments and compile daily operating statistics using two-way radio, telephone, and/or computer.
• Maintain two-way communications with all operators, monitor system performance, and make scheduling adjustments as needed.
• Project a positive image and provide exceptional customer service, exhibiting patience and consideration.
• Use and train on dispatching software, assign work, vehicles, and on-board equipment to operators, and assist with passenger problems.
• Monitor drivers' performance, ADA compliance, vehicle status, and prepare transit reports as required.
• Perform assigned duties and responsibilities.

• Knowledge: Communications equipment, procedures, and techniques; Relevant laws, codes, and regulations; Urban transit operations, services, and activities; Radio communications and dispatch principles; City policies and procedures.
• Skills: Clear communication, both verbally and in writing; Relationship-building with city officials and the public; Physical and mental health for job requirements; Decision-making and problem-solving abilities; Familiarity with Grand Forks urban area.
• Abilities: Learn radio communications and dispatch principles; Understand urban transit systems and dispatch centers; Handle multiple tasks under stress; Work independently and with various individuals; Customer-focused and self-motivated; Safe and service-oriented record.

Supplemental Information

• Experience and Training Guidelines:
• Experience: One or two years of passenger transportation experience, training, or supervision.
• Training: High School diploma or GED equivalent.
• Licenses or Certificates: Valid driver's license.

This is a part-time, non-benefited position.
