Part-Time Dispatcher
About the role
This office operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Work schedules may include weekdays, weekends, holidays, and day, swing, or grave shifts. Primarily hiring for grave shift (10p-6a) on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday.
Responsibilities
- Receive calls from the University departments as well as the public requesting police, fire, medical, facilities, security or other services
- Determine the nature and location of the incident: determine priorities, and dispatch units as necessary and in accordance with established procedures
- Dispatch facilities, maintenance and other university personnel to incidents that require immediate action to ensure the safety and security of the campus
- Closely monitor safety systems and alarms, such as fire detection, intrusion detection, access control, and security cameras
- Maintains contact with all units on assignment, maintain status and location of units
- Answers non-emergency calls for assistance
- Enter, update and retrieve information from a variety of computer systems
- Monitor several public safety radio frequencies
- Operate a variety of communications equipment, including radio consoles, telephones, computer aided dispatch (CAD), and other computer systems/programs
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must be able to perform shift work; primarily graves (10p-6a)
