About the role

Cleveland Clinic Martin North Hospital is a fully integrated, state-of-the-art medical campus that includes Diagnostic Centers, Outpatient Surgery, and a 24-hour Emergency Department. As part of the world-renowned Cleveland Clinic, this role involves providing immediate medical treatment to patients presenting with critical injuries, illnesses, and concerns in the Emergency Department. Fast thinking and processing are essential, as every second counts in an emergency.

Responsibilities

  • Provide immediate medical treatment to injured or ill patients on-site and/or during transport to the hospital.
  • Maintain equipment.
  • Assess the nature and extent of illness/injury and patient history from available sources.
  • Determine appropriate independent or collaborative response.
  • Administer emergency medical care, including life support procedures, decontamination protocols, obtaining EKG readings, and vital statistics monitoring.
  • Perform fluid/drug administration as needed.
  • Communicate with medical personnel at the hospital, report/record observations, and follow directives until report and hand-off at the hospital (if on the Transport Team).
  • Navigate an ambulance to the scene of an accident in response to an emergency call (if on the Transport Team).

Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited EMS-Paramedic Training Program.
  • Current Florida licensure as an Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic (EMTP).
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or ALS through the American Red Cross.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (upon hire or within one year of beginning work in the Emergency Department).
  • Clinical experience through an EMS Paramedic Training program.

Preferred Qualifications

  • International Trauma Life Support (ITLS).
  • Current Valid Driver’s License (VDL).
  • One year of experience as an EMT or Paramedic.

Physical Requirements

  • Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination; involves extensive standing and walking.
  • Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Schedule

Varying days from 11:00 AM – 11:30 PM.
