Responsible for
- Responding to requests for ALS intervention and providing emergency medical care in the pre-hospital environment.
- Completing documentation and records according to department policy.
- Runs report and enters data into computer database accurately.
- Ensures vehicle and equipment are ready for response at all times.
- Maintains sufficient knowledge of geography.
- Performs assigned duties in the emergency department under the supervision of the ED physicians.
- Assists with 12 Lead EKGs, blood draws, IV insertions.
- Maintains current certifications as required.
- Shares new information with fellow staff.
- Attends monthly staff meetings.
- Participates in community activities which improve the public's understanding of the EMS system.
Essential Functions
- Responds to requests for paramedic services from area departments in a timely and safe manner.
- Follows Massachusetts laws regarding emergency driving.
- Contacts requesting town dispatcher by radio to report time enroute, scene arrival and unavailable status.
- Parks vehicle in areas designed by local fire or police, or in a safe area if not directed.
- Completes documentation and records according to department policy.
- Restocks vehicle and equipment within 30 minutes following run.
- Keeps vehicle clean and maintains fuel and fluids per schedule or as needed.
- Reports damaged or unsafe equipment to Director upon problem identification.
- Renders pre-hospital medical care at the paramedic level.
- Performs complete and accurate patient assessments.
- Adheres to Region IV treatment protocols and procedures and carries out medical control's orders within own scope of practice.
- Is proficient in all related ALS skills.
- Gives accurate, concise radio reports and adheres to established radio communication protocols.
- Maintains sufficient knowledge of geography.

Job Requirements
- Minimum Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum Work Experience: Prior experience as a provider of pre-hospital care in an emergency setting.
- Critical Care Experience Preferred/ALS Transfers Required.
- Licenses: VDL - Valid Drivers License.
- Required Certifications: ACLS (AHA) - Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification - American Heart Association (AHA), BLS (AHA) - Basic Life Support (AHA), EMT-P (Massachusetts DPH) - Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic.
- Preferred Certifications: PALS (AHA) - Pediatric Advanced Life Support, NRP (AHA) - Neonatal Resuscitation Program.
