About the role
The Paramedic Technician functions semi-independently, under the direction of the Physician, RN, and/or PA-C, as part of the integrated healthcare team. They are responsible for providing comprehensive quality patient care in an accurate and timely manner according to established patient standards and practice.
Responsibilities
- Provides timely, safe and accurate reassessment of ED patients.
- Provides timely, safe and accurate implementation of applicable technical skills/procedures per ADHS guidelines.
- Ensures timely and correct patient flow, utilizing internal and external resources.
- Effectively supports system, facility and department goals and objectives, mission, vision, and values through appropriate use of interpersonal skills and job performance.
- Demonstrates well-defined organizational and time-management skills.
Qualifications
- Special Skills: Must be able to read, write, follow instructions and document care given in English. Must have knowledge and understanding of the entire aging process.
- Education: Graduate of an EMT-P training course approved under Arizona 9 A.A.C. 25, Articles 2, 4, and 5 are required. Triage course must be completed prior to 6 months and prior to taking the triage assignment. Knowledge of the principles of growth and development and the ability to assess data and identify patients' age-specific requirements and provide age-appropriate care is required.
- Splinting, EKG and Chest Tube competencies, as well as all other department check off lists must be completed within three months of hire. Triage course must be completed prior to 6 months and prior to taking the triage assignment.
- Licensure/Certifications: ADHS Paramedic Certification or Arizona State Certified, BLS and ACLS. PALS within 9 months of hire.
Preferred Requirements
- Experience: Previous work experience in an Emergency Room.
- Certification/registration: Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), Basic and Advanced Trauma Life Support. National Licensure by the NREMT Board.
